THE PURPOSE OF VIRGINITY

This is serious to God, and yet we live in a society in which a young man wants to get rid of his virginity at the very earliest of ages to show that he's a "man." Keeping it means that he's a "wimp." A young woman wants to get rid of her virginity in order to gain acceptance. If she keeps it, she's considered a "prude."

But God has established something higher than the lascivious behavior of this world on which you can base your life and through which you can experience this great blessing.

God has given you a glory in the virginity which is yours from birth. It is the one thing that you possess that is yours to give as your greatest gift to the person you love, with whom you will spend a lifetime, with whom you will become "one."

Being a virgin doesn't make you an "oddball" or a "weirdo"! Being a virgin makes you the person God created you to be so that in your life you can have a holy covenant relationship with someone He brings to you. God has given you a blood covenant. It's His divine provision given out of love for man, and in order for man and woman to become truly "one." It's something to rejoice about, not something to grumble about or feel inferior because of! Virginity is a glory!

This is what God has done for us through the creation of a virginal state in man:

When a man and a woman get married as virgins and have their first intimate experience, and her hymen is broken, it causes the shedding of blood which then flows over his part. To God it is a sign that they have entered into a sacred relationship with a blood covenant which is symbolic of entering into a sacred covenant relationship with God in Christ by the shedding of His blood.

The shedding of blood is the symbol of the covenant a husband and wife have entered into together, first in heart, then in body. It's an external evidence of an internal work.

When a man and woman make their commitment to one another before God, and they declare their desire to become "one flesh," as God intended for them, then God has provided for them an actual blood covenant whereby they can seal their commitment.

Awesome! Joyous! Wonderful!

To those who are married, the sexual part of their relationship takes on an entirely new dimension when they understand the perfection of what God has done between them.

To those who are not yet married, it gives an entirely new outlook on the future that God has prepared for them.

Think of it. On your wedding night, you take your bride into your arms in the hotel room. She's dressed in her beautiful white peignoir, you're in your new silk pajamas. You have toasted each other with your sparkling grape juice, and now you look into her eyes and say, "Darling, you are God's gift to me. I love you.
